Teachers Count!

Nominate a Helena teacher!

Helena College families are invited to nominate inspirational and excellent teachers for the 2011 National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) program.

The NEiTA 2011 ASG Inspirational Teaching Awards has adopted the theme, Teachers Count, encouraging community recognition of the work of teachers and education leaders. This is your opportunity to formally thank the hard-working, inspirational teachers, principals and directors of Helena College. Nominate a teacher or leader from Helena for these awards in 2011. We have many deserving staff who have made a real difference to our community and in the education of our students.

Who can nominate? Australian parents, school councils, committees of management, parent associations, secondary student councils, and community organisations.

Who can be nominated? Early childhood, primary and secondary teachers, principals, directors and leaders.

When do nominations close? 29 July 2011

Why nominate? To say thank you, to recognise, and congratulate an inspirational teacher, principal, director or leader at Helena College.

Five great reasons to nominate:

  • Teachers do amazing work every day in our schools and centres. This is a great opportunity to thank them and tell Australia.
  • Recognising a teacher for an award is a celebration for the whole school community.
A great teacher is an inspiration to generations of current and future teachers.
  • Nominations keep the focus on high standards of education in our schools.
  • Grants and prizes promote professional development.
  • Above all, it’s a great way to say thank you!

How to nominate? Nominate online on the NEiTA website. Download NEiTA nomination form.

Alternatively, contact NEiTA on free call 1800 624 487 or email neita@asg.com.au for a form.

IPM – The numbers have been crunched!

Thanks for all your support!

IPM – the numbers have finally been crunched!

Thanks for all your support!

Most of the bills have been paid (there may be a few more to come in) and the dollars have been counted. Thank you very much to Betty Pitcher, Finance Manager, and chief number cruncher, to the accounts staff for all their hard work in the counting house and to the staff who helped run the ‘bank’ on the night.

I am very pleased to be able to announce that the final profit made was just over $15,000 which is our best ever result. As a FUNDRAISER and FRIENDRAISER, I’m sure you’ll agree the event was a success on both counts.

The funds will be divided equally between the two schools, with the first $1500 to be spent on cultural activities for the students of each school. The remainder of the funds will be used to provide extra resources at each campus, as decided by Principal, Head of Junior School, the staff and the P&F.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who helped in any way for International Pasar Malam in 2011.

Sally Herzfeld, Acting Chair of Council  and Julie Carlton, Community Relations Manager
