Each year there are many opportunities for music students from Years 6-12 to perform for their peers, families and friends with spring and autumn concerts, soirees for soloists and the Inter-house Music Carnival.
The recent Autumn Concert showed yet again the range of musical talent at the College and drew a capacity audience to the Performing Arts Centre at the Glen Forrest Campus. It was particularly exciting for Year 6 students, performing in their first concert at Helena.
The varied programme featured the music of Hendrix, Coldplay, Beatles, traditional Gospel music through to Jazz and Rock classics, plus the great composers. Every ensemble presented something different including more than 50 Intermediate and Senior choir members on stage at the same time.
Our talented music students, tutors and teachers performed to the delight of an appreciative audience at the Autumn Concert 2017. Showcasing the skills and enthusiasm of our ensemble students, the programme offered a wonderful range of instrumental and vocal performances. Every student played according to their level of experience and put their best on show for the community. Music Captains, Hariel Nicholas and Thomas Selim charmed the crowd as they shared the MC duties for the night. If you get an opportunity, please congratulate our hard-working music team: Kirsten, Ruth and Simon. Or just ask our music students and Tutors about their great night. Special thanks also for the dedicated support provided by the IT and Maintenance crew.
