Building the HC online business directory

Posted on May 24, 2013 in Junior School latest news, Senior School P&F

Online Business Directory screen shot

This week I gave a demonstration of the College’s new online business directory to the parents at the Junior School P&F and spoke about it with the parents of the Senior School P&F. So far we have 38 advertisers on the directory but we need your support to build it and make it grow. We want it to be of benefit to our community – parents, students, Old Helenians, staff and Friends of Helena (ie hills businesses). Become an advertiser and/or use it – support members of our community. It is so easy to use and set up your advert. Two additional new categories just added are buy and sell CLASSIFIEDS -  uniforms and CLASSIFIEDS – general items.

There are three levels of adverts – free line listings, display adverts ($75 per year), and feature adverts ($200 per year). Advertisers can log in any time to update their ads.

Year 12 drama production – Rosencranz and Guildenstern are Dead!

Posted on February 28, 2013 in Junior School latest news, Senior School P&F

‘A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself’.

Within the world of Hamlet, two friends named Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (or vice versa) are traipsing the woods of Elsinore and coincidentally embarking on the road of fate and existence. What for? It seems like no one can quite recall.

As various quirky, and perhaps slightly insane, characters join the action we find the distinction between what’s real and what’s in their heads beginning to blur.

Minor characters in the Shakespearean tragedy, Ros and Guil, as they are so fondly known, have their compelling story told through this absurdist tragic-comedy.

On the 14,15,16 March 2013 at 7.30pm in the performing arts centre at Helena College Senior School, the Year 12 drama class will be journeying into a place of never-ending questions and arbitrary answers with their three-act production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard [by arrangement with ORiGiN Theatrical, on behalf of Samuel French, Ltd]

Spend an evening exploring the seldom known world of Ros and Guil.

Tickets are available for $10 from the drama office at lunchtimes and recess or via email to Ms Twynam-Perkins.
