International Baccalaureate

Helena College gained authorisation as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in 2012. Currently the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is undertaken by all Senior School students in Years 7 through to Year 10.
The IBO programmes are currently taught in 2,830 schools in 138 countries to approximately 778,000 students. Australia is the 4th most active IB country with 146 schools. The IB offers 3 programmes, the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP) for Years 11 and 12. The IB employs over 5,000 staff including examiners located worldwide and has offices in Beijing, Buenos Aires, Cardiff, Geneva, Mumbai, New York, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Vancouver.
Over the past 5 years the number of schools offering IB has almost doubled and the projection for the next 5 years is for this growth to continue or even accelerate.
The IBO is a not-for-profit organisation governed by an elected 17-member Board of Governors the membership of which represents cultural and geographical diversity.
