International Baccalaureate – Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The Middle Year’s Programme (MYP) is an international curriculum that encourages students to be globally aware citizens.
MYP is a pedagogy founded on inquiry based learning. Inquiry is a fundamental part of human nature. It is how we make sense of the world around us, and how we learn new things. This means that students are taught skills to help them collect and make sense of the huge amounts of information available in the modern era. From this the MYP seeks to foster young people to be able to analyze this information and make informed decisions when answering questions.
This requires important analytical and critical thinking skills, combined with a high level of competency in using ICT.

The process of inquiry is something that is innate in humans, and IB seeks to extend this instinct by transforming it into an important skill set for 21st century learning.
The overall philosophy of the MYP programme is expressed through three fundamental concepts that support and strengthen all areas of the curriculum. These concepts are based on:
- intercultural awareness
- holistic learning
- communication
