Year 10 is the final year, or exit year of the Middle Years Programme at Helena College. This year is marked by the production of a product and writing of a report for each student’s Personal Project.
The task work generated by students is of a high level and by this year, students are highly autonomous and independent learners. They willingly self and peer evaluate work in all Learning Areas and effectively self mark with the teacher’s role evolving to that of a facilitator in the learning process.
Students are highly fluent with the Areas of Interaction and exhibit the IB Learner Profile both inside and outside of school. They demonstrate exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
Assessment is now marked using a more complex Assessment Criteria requiring higher order thinking. By this stage students are able to work with the Assessment Criteria to achieve the desired level in their assessment. This increases students’ taking responsibility for their own learning, which is central to the IB ethos.
