The Year 7 MYP is the first year students at Helena are introduced to the International Baccalaureate. Students participate in an IB orientation during the Year 7 camp in week one of Term One, and upon their return to classes at the College they become fully immersed in the MYP.

The focus for Year 7s at Helena is to immerse them in the IB learner profile, introduce them to the Areas of Interaction and to develop their awareness and understanding of inquiry-based learning.

Teachers at Helena work collaboratively to develop original, innovative and flexible units of study that cater to all learning abilities to provide the students with the necessary skills to succeed in the Middle Years Programme.

Part of this success is the transparency of IB and for all stakeholders to be a part of the learning process. An important component is to familiarize parents with the Assessment Criteria of each subject area at the College.
