IB PYP

Preparing students for active participation in a lifelong journey of learning

IB PYP

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a framework for learning that strengthens every aspect of the educational journey at Helena College. Through the IB, our students learn how to be independent learners with a global outlook and strong personal values.

As a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Darlington Campus is implementing the inquiry based approach in every aspect of the schooling. The core learning of the Australian Curriculum is addressed through a series of investigations into big ideas such as ‘Who are we?’ and ‘How the world works’. These investigations are trans-disciplinary, focusing on issues that go across subject areas.

The PYP programme strengthens each child’s academic, social and emotional development through the development of knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes that children will need for successful lives beyond the classroom.

Learn more by downloading the  IB PYP brochure, visiting the IB website or contacting our IB PYP coordinator Tory McPherson.
