Helena College is an independent, non-religious, Kindergarten to Year 12 school with a broad and welcoming admissions policy.

Helena College is an independent, non-religious school offering education from Kindergarten to Year 12. With a broad and inclusive admissions policy, we understand that choosing the right school is a significant decision for every family. While our main intake years are Kindergarten, Year 4, and Year 6, we welcome registrations for all year levels across both our Junior and Senior School campuses.

Due to limited places in selected year groups, we encourage you to apply early. If you would like to learn more about Helena College we invite you to take a campus tour or speak with our Enrolments Coordinator on 08 9298 9100 or email enrolments@helena.wa.edu.au.

Enrolment Criteria

Enrolments are reviewed on the basis of:

  • The reports and information provided by the parents (including medical reports, student’s special education needs, behavioural history);
  • The resources the student will require in terms of human resources, financial, material and space;
  • Parental commitment to supporting their student’s education program at home and at school;
  • Review of transition from Year 5 at Darlington Campus to Year 6 Glen Forrest Campus if student has special education needs; and
  • The Principal / Head of Junior School may, in discussion with the student, parents, staff and College Psychologist, enrol a student on a conditional basis in light of the student’s particular situation and/or needs at the time of or during the student’s enrolment.

For further information, see our Enrolment Policy.

*An important note about Year 7 entry | Year 6 is our main intake year at our Glen Forrest Campus and marks the beginning of Middle School (Years 6- 9). Our Year 6 program is a carefully designed to take in the unique needs of our emerging adolescents and provides a gentle introduction to secondary school in a safe and caring environment. You can find out more about this dedicated area, and our approach to a scaffolded transition here - it also includes answers to frequently asked questions. While applications for Year 7 entry are welcomed, availability of Year 7 places will depend on the number of students with confirmed enrolment commencing in Year 6 in the preceding year.  For example, if our Year 6 2025 year group is at capacity, we would be unlikely to be able to offer places for a Year 7 2026 start.  We recommend contacting the Enrolments Coordinator to find out about availability for Year 7 entry, or booking a tour of the Senior School to learn more about the Year 6 program.

The Enrolment Pathway

Our online registration process is quick and easy, and can be completed before or after attending a tour of one or both of our campuses.

Complete the online registration form

We invite you to take the next step by completing an online registration. Simply follow the "Apply Now" link.   To complete your registration, you will need:

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • The registration fee of $135, however this fee is waived if either parent is an ‘Old Helenian’
  • Proof of Australian citizenship, VISA, and/or permanent or temporary residency documentation if your child does not have an Australian Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Australian citizenship, visa, and/or permanent or temporary residency documentation for both parents, if neither was born in Australia

Once we receive a completed registration, your child will be placed on our enrolment list for your nominated year level and year of entry. Please note, a registration does not guarantee a place at Helena College.

Registrations are reviewed by date of application; however, registered siblings of current students are given priority. We recommend registering siblings as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Enrolment Priorities

Registrations are prioritised based on the date they are received; however, preference is given to siblings of currently enrolled students.

Students enrolled in our Junior School automatically transition to our Senior School.

Student Information Questionnaire

In line with the enrolment priorities outlined above, and subject to current vacancies, parents/guardians will receive a Student Information Questionnaire via email either in the year prior to their child’s potential enrolment, or, in the case of Year 6 entry, two years prior to the intended their intended commencement (i.e. in Year 4).

This questionnaire provides families with the opportunity to update contact details and, most importantly, share relevant information about their child. All information submitted is then reviewed by the Enrolments Panel.

Enrolment Meeting

Once the review is complete, parents/guardians will be invited to bring their child for an enrolment meeting with a member of executive staff. These meetings provide an opportunity for families to share relevant information, ask questions specific to their child, and discuss any individual needs or considerations.

Offer of Student Place

Following the enrolment meeting, an ‘Offer of Student Place’ may be made via email. All offers are made at the discretion of the Principal.

Acceptance of Student Place

Should you choose to accept the Offer of Student Place; you will be required to complete and electronically sign an Enrolment Agreement and pay the non-refundable acceptance fee to secure your child’s enrolment at Helena College. Please note, the acceptance fee is not offset against your child’s school fees. The enrolment fees are as follows:

  • Kindy to Year 9: $995
  • Years 10 to 11: $425
  • Year 12: $275

Once both the signed Enrolment Agreement and payment have been received, your child’s enrolment at the College is confirmed.

Orientation and Transition

We understand that moving to a new school can be both exciting and a little daunting. To support students as they settle into life at Helena College, we offer a dedicated orientation morning for those entering our Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 5), as well an orientation day for students commencing in Years 6 and 7 at the Senior School.

If your child joins us part-way through the school year or outside the usual intake points, we will work closely with them to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.

Questions

Making the decision to accept an offer of place at any school is significant, and we know you may have additional questions. Please feel free to contact our Enrolments Coordinator at any time for a chat, or if you wish to update your contact details or change your child’s proposed year of entry.
