Junior School at Helena College's Darlington Campus

The Junior School journey is designed to excite young minds about the joys of education and to inspire a lifelong love of learning – today’s young students are tomorrow’s global citizens.

I am privileged to witness the wonderful tapestry of achievements, milestones and events that occur over the course of each year.
— Greg Miller, Head of Junior School

Parents and family are the child’s first educators and we build upon this initial learning by providing the best environment and experiences for individual student development.

Children have an innate desire to learn, grow and explore. We harness and foster these natural tendencies through our inquiry-based teaching and learning as well as our enviable specialist and electives programs. All our programs revolve around a sturdy commitment to literacy, numeracy and the development of positive learning habits.

At the Junior School, learning is much more than an academic pursuit: it is whole person development that balances academic, social, creative, physical and emotional needs. The children are at the forefront of all our decision-making, which centre around choosing what will best meet their individual needs. Achievements are age and developmentally appropriate and will vary for each student.

We have an outstanding teaching team who are here to make each child’s education a successful experience, a time when they are seen as unique individuals in a safe learning environment.

A: Kindy students attend Helena for four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) from 8.40 am to 2.45 pm. This does vary slightly in the first weeks of Term 1, to allow for a gentle transition to 'big school' for our youngest students.
