Old Helenians' Ski Trip

Old Helenians Wednesday, 26 Apr 2023

The Old Helenians are gearing up for their upcoming ski trip, set to take place at the start of January 2024. This time, the destination is the snow-capped mountains of Hakuba, Japan. The trip promises to be an exciting adventure, offering the opportunity to experience Japan's incredible snow, as well as visit Tokyo Disneyland, see the Snow Monkeys, tour Universal Studios, and enjoy the country's many cultural delights.

To learn more about this trip and how you can participate in the fun, please reach out to Tim Hayward at thayward@helena.wa.edu.au. All Old Helenians, their families, and friends are welcome to join in on the adventure.

In 2022, the Old Helenian Ski Trip destination was New Zealand, and was a terrific experience for those who went along. Tim Hayward, the Ski Trip Co-ordinator, shares his recollections of the adventure:

While in the past we have travelled to Japan, in 2022, we aimed to keep it semi-local while still heading overseas.  Queenstown, New Zealand was the perfect choice. Not only did we have a wide array of ski fields and terrain, to test our skills, but the town also had a fantastic atmosphere away from the snow. Days were spent on the slopes of The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Cardrona, the nights were spent exploring Queenstown’s many eateries and local establishments. I cannot speak highly enough for the five-star burgers you can get at Ferg Burger, if you get the chance, you must try one. During our rest days. some of us went ski diving, bungy swinging, luging, catching a movie, pampering ourselves at the local spa and so much more. It was an amazing trip with amazing people, and we look forward to doing again!
